How to find a golf fitness expert.
With the plethora of knowledge out there on the importance and mechanics of the golf swing, where do you go to get the best information possible? Of course we have all had instructors that had the best information but were unable to effectively communicate it.
The same is true for golf instruction. If we are going to spend money on something, there needs to be a level of trust. We want to find someone that not only has the credentials but also has the ability to explain things at our level without being made to feel like grubs in the barnyard.
In an ongoing survey at ezgolfrx.com, 45% indicated that physical fitness is the most important part of their game. Only 11% listed a great instructor as key. The following article from Today in PT, documents this trend.

When it comes to golf injury and performance improvement, nothing is simple, says H.J. Bud” Ferrante, PT, OCS, founder and president of BackToGolf, a golf rehabilitation and performance program based in Carmel, Calif.
“The golf swing is one of the [most] complicated movements in all of sports ,” Ferrante says. “It requires flexibility, range of motion, strength, balance, and coordination — and the body moves opposed to itself at a high rate of speed.” During a golf swing, the head and trunk move in opposite directions; with right handed golfers, the head goes left as the shoulders and hips go right. At the same time, the legs move in a different direction than the trunk, Ferrante explains.
Indeed, there are a total of five separate movements and six stability patterns going on simultaneously in a golf swing, says Larry Carter, PT, TPI CGFI Level 3, owner of Body Balance for Performance in Covina, Calif, one of a franchise of 47 golf-specific PT clinics focusing on performance enhancement and injury.
More to come later. Until then..
Have a great game.
